Intermediate/Beginners Skills Course
 

Designed for students who have limited experience, are returning to motorcycling after a long break, need to build upon a recent basic course or just need a tune-up. This course consists of one evening (4hrs) and two full days - 20 hours of training. Saturday and Sunday training is 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Equipment & protective gear for safe operation
  • Basic fundamentals & operating principles
  • Nomenclature & controls
  • Illness & impairment
  • Collision avoidance techniques
  • Defensive riding strategies
  • Pre-Trip inspection procedures
  • Proper ground handling (pushing, backing and safely picking up a motorcycle)
  • Starting & straight line stopping maneuvers
  • Shifting gears
  • Basic cornering techniques
  • Instructor monitored student practice
  • Instructor/student debriefings
    Student critique
 
 
** A motorcycle learners permit is NOT required
** Students must be able to ride a bicycle and be capable of sustaining moderate physical exertion over a 4 hour period.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Advanced Skills Course

 

Designed for students who have successfully completed the basic course, or have a level of experience over time which would satisfy the basic curriculum. This course consists of 7.5 hours of training - 1 hour of classroom instruction and 6.5 hours of range training. MRC motorcycle choices include the medium-duty street motorcycle, (Buell Blast) with an option to move up to a larger motorcycle (HD Road King) with a premium fee of $125.00

  • Review of basic operating fundamentals, concepts and techniques, roadway hazards, safety equipment and
    motorcycle crash data, to include causative factors
  • Advanced brake and escape maneuvers
  • Braking in a curve
  • Collision avoidance techniques
  • Advanced cornering techniques
  • Ocular riding principals
  • Cone course maneuvers
  • Student practice time with instructor evaluation
  • Student demonstrations of skills
  • Instructor/student debriefing
  • Student critiques

                              *A motorcycle operator’s license is required

Expert Skills Course  

Designed for students who have completed the basic and advanced course and/OR have acquired a significant amount of real world experience as a motorcycle operator. This is a 24 hour comprehensive course of instruction, demonstration, student practice and student demonstration. This course is offered to only 5 students. Students receive a great deal of intensive one-on-one instructor interaction. Riders who have not attended the MRC basic or advanced course, but can demonstrate by staff consultation that they have acquired a level of experience commensurate with the established course curriculum are eligible for this expert course.  All students accepted for the expert course will need to have the endorsement of the lead instructor before being placed.  MRC will provide the motorcycle for the expert course.

  • Curve braking techniques
  • Advanced cone course negotiation skills
  • Group riding techniques

Individual Skills Course 

Popular with our customers, MRC offers individualized, personal, unique and comfortably-paced training, which is tailored around the students experience and current skill level. The training is conducted with 1 or 2 MRC instructors and scheduling is for a minimum of three hours.  Students benefit greatly with this one-on-one attention and can set goals with an MRC instructor. Off site training may be considered. The schedule below is for weekday training. If we have instructor availability, we can also provide weekend training.  Please call to schedule your date!
